Meet Lissa Evans here and fall in love with her novel of heart, mind and humour
It’s warm, it’s witty, it’s wise, it’s brimming with 1920s period detail and it’s set in Hampstead, no wonder we have fallen in love with Old Baggage, the latest novel from the wonderful Lissa Evans and little surprise, then, that we are delighted to welcome her to the shop to talk about it on 18 June at 7.30pm.
Set in 1928, Old Baggage introduces the reader to the formidable and splendid Mattie, a middle aged former Suffragette, living close to Hampstead Heath and on the look out for a project…after all, what does one do when one has helped to change the world?
Lissa Evans is probably best known as the author of Their Finest Hour And A Half, a World War Two novel which was recently adapted for the cinema and her Crooked Heart book, also set during WW2 is a permanent bestseller here.
Old Baggage brims with Lissa’s trademark warmth, fantastic characterisations and beautiful writing. If you haven’t discovered her work yet, you are in for a major treat. We can’t recommend the book, or her talk, highly enough.
