Spend a summer’s weekend in great literary company at St Jude’s

You know that summer’s round the corner when tickets go on sale for the St Jude’s Literary Festival in Hampstead Garden Suburb and this year boasts an all-star line up of authors.

Set in Henrietta Barnett School and with profits going to the North London Hospice and Toynbee Hall, there can be few finer ways of spending a midsummer’s weekend, in this case 23/24 June.

This year’s stellar speakers include (Saturday): Lynne Truss talking about A Shot In the Dark, the first in a new crime series; BBC newsman extraordinaire John Tusa on his memoir, Making A Noise; music broadcaster Clemency Burton-Hill on Year of Wonder, which offers a playlist of classical music for every day of the year and business broadcaster/anchor Robert Peston talking about his book WTF: What Have We Done?

Sunday kicks off with a bang as Nicholas Hytner, film director and former creative director of the National Theatre takes us backstage via his memoir Balancing Acts; broadcaster comedian Viv Groskop talks about The Anna Karenina Fix; expect some fascinating insights when Philip Collins,  journalist and former chief speech writer to Tony Blair, talks about his latest book When They Go Low, We Go High and the weekend comes to a conclusion with Simon Jenkins, journalist and former chair of the National Trust talks about Britain’s 100 Best Railways Stations [we’re guessing that West Hampstead probably didn’t make the grade!]

All tickets cost £10 and we will be there throughout selling books for you to have the author sign and dedicate. Booking via www.promsatstjudes.org.uk. Phone bookings open on May 29 via 0203322 8123
